Now that’s more like it !

Pretty exciting month so far, as l’Étoile managed to get 3 consecutive league wins, among which a quite historic one in Monastir, and ensure a spot in the cup’s quarter finals.
The situation in the league :
Espérance seem to be experiencing the slowdown that cost us the title last year, as they only got 2 points from their 2 last games agains Béja and Hammam-Lif, with Tunisia’s number 1 Hamdi Karsraoui making horrible mistakes and denying his team the win each time.
The obvious benefitors are Club Africain and l’Étoile, who reduced the gap thanks to two victories. The manner may have been absent as usual, but at least we’re winning again, and the 3 points we brought back from local rivals Monastir should be a great confidence boost. Need I remind the Étoile fan that we hadn’t even scored there since 2004 ? The win against Kasserine, if not impressive, set the real turning point and showed that we’re back to our scoring form. The rest of the fixtures favor Club Africain, and unlike them, we’re still competing in the cup, but I’m glad to say this isn’t over at all like I thought a few weeks ago. Our last fixture against the still leaders in Tunis might be decisive. If this league doesn’t give us enough eye candy, it sure as hell is exciting.
New players blending in :
With some injuries and the obvious need to reshape the team, two players have been introduced to midfield in order to give it some much needed consistency : Everson and Hamdi Mabrouk. The former, although not in the best of shapes with his 33 years of age, has already earned his first team spot with his ability to hold on to the ball, attract marking players and leave them behind very easily, whilst the latter has already gotten himself on the scoresheet against Monastir. I hope we can see more of Mendoza and Negedu in the upcoming fixtures (both of them took part in the friendly game between the ESS bench and polish side Widzew Łódź, final result : 2-4).
