On top of the table ! And we’re there to stay .
By: Houssem | September 29th, 2008I know I haven’t been much of a reliable blogger lately, but due to some heavy involvement in exams and some other extra-curricular activities you just can’t miss on if you’re in Southern Germany this time of the year, I didn’t have a lot of time to report on Étoile’s recent performances. Fortunately, they did great even without me !
Following the 2-0 home victory against Avenir Sportif de la Marsa, Étoile went on a risky trip to Gafsa, and came back with the 3 points in the most convincing manner : 4-1, and goals by the players you wouldn’t really expect to leave their names on the score sheet : Nafkha twice, Jemal and Mosrati. But the real good news to this blogger is that Decastel finally got it : leaving out Abdennour, Bejaoui and Ben Nasr is proving to be the remedy to our lack of solution in front of goal. Mejdi Mosrati is showing some very interesting skills, he could be the playmaker we’ve been looking for since … hell, since Zoubeir Baya ! The other good news is the return of Souheil Ben Radhia after a doubtful summer. But our new Warrior is hopefully back for good and life won’t be so easy for every left winger in the Tunisian League and in Africa.
Winning in Gafsa was probably the best that could happen for the team’s morale, since they’re one of the toughest “second rate” clubs in the league, and you don’t wanna go there if you’re desperately in need for three points by the end of the season. I’m glad we got it over with so early in the season.
Here the highlights from the ASM game on Wednesday :
And Dimanche Sport’s coverage of the EGSG game :
Next Saturday will be a decisive game against Asante Kotoko in Kumasi, where Egypt crushed Côte d’Ivoire last February during the 2008 ACN. Let’s hope we get the same luck.

The Kotoko game in Kumassi will clarify everything, it’ll be a real test for the players to see if the big away wins are due to the good individual and general performances or the weakness of our opponents.
