Does it look like a failed transfer window to you ?
By: Houssem | August 5th, 2008Because it does to me … With Chermiti gone, and Gelson probably off to Saint-Étienne in the next days (they’re offering 850.000€ according to the daily newspaper La Presse), our attacking options seem to be reduced to Emeka Opara and the youngsters who yet have to prove themselves.
Midfield doesn’t look bright either, with the departures of Ogunbiyi and Narry, and the swap of Khaled Melliti for Ahmed Akaichi, who, in trainer Decastel’s opinion, isn’t first team material yet (he will be training with the reserves). And there’s Traoui, who was beginning to look good as captain. But we can’t keep all those good players forever, can we ?
On the bright side, we’ve just signed 19-year-old Yacouba Diarra (Mali U-21 international) on a 5 year contract. He played against the tunisian U-20 side on July 22nd in Sousse and scored the only goal of the game that saw the malian Eaglets qualifiy to the second and last preliminary round of the U-20 ACN. That’s probably when he caught the eye of our scouts.
The additional 5 players to the CAF Confederation Cup list have been announced today : the not-so-impressive goalkeeper Abderrahmane Baâboura (if you watched the Morocco Summer Cup, you know what I’m talking about), Ahmed Mida (offensive midfielder from Stade Gabésien), Mejdi Mosrati (offensive midfielder from US Monastirienne), Tarek Ziadi (forward from CS Sfaxien) and Emeka Opara. The group has no choice but to be ready in 10-12 days to host Asante Kotoko, Ghana’s most successful team, who gave a hard time to CS Sfaxien and Al Ahly in the 2006 Champions League group stage. But before that, nothing could make the fans happier than a win against Club Africain on Saturday. We’ll be definitely seeing some of this :

Houssem, are you sure the game is Saturday? The calendar that Infosfoot released a while ago said Sunday but I’m second guessing myself…
It was fun to watch those highlights. Can’t wait for the game!
